Highgrove offered privacy outside London and made logistical sense after Harry, 41, spent the morning in Birmingham for the Invictus Games countdown and earlier carried out WellChild and other engagements in London.
The visit followed public disagreement over security arrangements after the couple lost state-funded protection in 2020; Harry had said he did not feel safe bringing his family without that security. The estate is also steeped in family history — Harry recalled the basement “Club H” hideaway in his memoir, and Highgrove sits about two hours from Althorp, where the family may spend time during the visit.
