Kamala Harris has not committed to another presidential bid. In February she told podcaster Sharon McMahon, "I haven't decided" and added, "I might." Her rise to the ticket followed a contentious period in 2024 when President Biden stepped aside after a difficult debate and Harris assumed the role on the ticket they had won together.
In her memoir "107 Days," Harris recounts a September 2024 phone call with Trump in which he reportedly praised her and said, "I'm going to tone it down. I will. You're going to see." Her team reposted the recent clip to its rebranded account, Headquarters, and comments flooded in — with many supporters calling Trump's remark offensive and some likening it to the Three-Fifths Compromise.
