A long-running legal battle connected to Lizzo's tour took a major turn on Sept. 1 when a federal judge dismissed the remaining claims against her touring company. Read on to discover the full story!

Judge's ruling

On Sept. 1, Judge Aenlle-Rocha threw out the remaining allegations brought in 2023 by former wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels against Big Grrrl Touring. The judge found Daniels did not point to conduct showing broad hostility toward women or unequal treatment, and said the incidents cited, though inappropriate, fall outside Title VII protections.

Racial-bias claims rejected

The court also dismissed Daniels' racial-bias accusations, finding no evidence that wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura used racial slurs or directed racially offensive language at specific Black people.

Lizzo and her team react

Lizzo shared an Instagram Reel saying she was relieved and that the claims—some from someone who worked less than three weeks—were dismissed. Lawyer Melissa Y. Glass called the decision a total victory and described the lawsuit as ludicrous, noting that the case against Lizzo was previously dismissed in December 2024.
